Tips for Mindful Eating
Below are a few tips for mindful eating. Like eating more slowly, eating mindfully is very different from the way most of us eat.
- Think about the food you’re eating before you being. Is it a lot of food or a little? Are there a lot of colors or a few? What do you think the foods’ texture will be like? Are you expecting sweet or spicy tastes? Is there anything that came with your meal that you don’t want to eat, or that you shouldn’t eat?
- Think about each bite as you eat it. Does the food remind you of anything else? Does the food make you happy or bring to mind any feelings? Have you had this type of food before, and is this meal better or worse than that meal? Would you order this meal again? How long do you think it took the cook to make your meal, and could you make it yourself sometime? Is it healthy for you?
